AGP president Chandramohan Patowary urged the Centre to inquire into the allegations by a rights activist that CM Tarun Gogoi`s family members had allegedly used public money to acquire property in the USA.

Guwahati: Asom Gana Parishad President Chandramohan Patowary on Tuesday urged the Centre to inquire into the allegations by a rights activist that Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi`s family members had allegedly used public money to acquire property in the USA.

"Pending inquiry we also demand that either the Chief Minister should be asked by the Centre like in Maharashtra to relinquish office immediately or appropriate action should be taken to dismiss the present state government," Patowary said after submitting a memorandum to Governor J B Patnaik here.
Patowary also alleged that the recent ethnic clashes on the Assam-Meghalaya border has exposed the chief minister`s `failure`.
He also said that had not visited the affected areas and demanded relief materials for those affected.
