Imphal: An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with joint security forces of Thoubal police commandos and 15th Assam rifle personnel at Langathel Chingol area in Thoubal district of Manipur early this morning, official sources said.
The joint security forces were on a combing operation at Langathel area early morning. Some armed militants opened fire at the security forces, who retaliated and there was 20
minutes exchange of firing. In the ensuing exchange of firing an unidentified militant was shot dead by security forces, the sources said.
One AK-56 rifle, 10 live bullets, one Chinese hand grenade and 45 empty cases were recovered from the deceased person.
The body has sent to the Regional Institute of Medical Science hospital for post mortem, sources added.
