Itanagar: The the All Nyishi Youth
Association (ANYA) has demanded for demarcation of
Assam-Arunachal border and construction of boundary wall for a
lasting solution to the decades-old boundary dispute between
the neighbouring states.
The Association in a memorandum to Chief Minister Nabam
Tuki today also demanded for setting up of police barracks and
deployment of IRBn personnel along the inter-state border in
order to put a check on the oft-repeated border skirmishes
with the neighbouring state.
A team of ANYA led by general secretary Kumar Tajo had
toured the border areas of Gumto, Tarasso, Kimin, Tarajuli,
Holongi and Sejosa from January 4 to 8 to take stock of the
problems confronted by the people.
The association in the memorandum said that construction
of boundary wall was of paramount need in absence of which the
Arunachalees living along the border areas were facing the
brunt of illegal eviction drives conducted repeatedly by the
Assam authorities as well as encroachment by the people of
It further urged the government to deploy IRBn and
construct police barracks in the disputed areas for safety of
Arunachal villagers residing at the Assam-Arunachal border.
