Itanagar: An estimated 11,640 voters, including 6,020 women, will decide the fate of five candidates for the by-election to Liromoba Assembly constituency which is going to polls on Friday.

All arrangements have been completed in 54 polling booths in the constituency for holding a free and fair election, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer DJ Bhattacharjee said.

The district administration has made elaborate security arrangements to conduct smooth polling.

Polling officials along with EVMs and other election materials have already reached their respective polling stations, Bhattacharjee said.

Counting of votes would be held on February 16 next.

The by-election was necessitated following the death of former chief minister Jarbom Gamlin on November 30 last year.
