Arunachal govt employee abducted

Security agencies of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam have been alerted after the abduction of an employee of APMDTCL from the hilly and remote Changlang district, the police said on Sunday.

Itanagar: Security agencies of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam have been alerted after the abduction of an employee of Arunachal Pradesh Mineral Development & Trading
Corporation Limited (APMDTCL) from the hilly and remote Changlang district, the police said on Sunday.

A group of four armed persons had kidnapped Sanjay Kumar, overman supervisor of APMDTCL run coal mine located at Kharsang, and took him to Namchik, about 15-16 km off the coal field, by the company’s vehicle, the sources said.

Before abandoning the vehicle at Balithan Tinali, the abductors reportedly damaged it and took Kumar, a native of Bihar, towards the thick forests bordering Tinsukia district
of Assam.

Though the incident occurred on Thursday, it reached the state capital late due to remoteness of the district.

A search operation was launched in the area, the sources said adding the Tinsukia district police were also alerted about the kidnapping.

Home Minister Tako Dabi discussed the abduction case with the police top brass here last evening and directed the Changlang Police to tie up with military and para-military
forces and go full throttle to rescue of the victim. Sources said the Army, CRPF, Assam Rifle and IRB personnel are conducting search operations in various
locations.
