Pegu on Thursday alleged that Assam Government had fabricated
false charges against him that he had links with terrorist
organisations like HuJI, CPI(Maoist), ULFA and NDFB.
Pegu claimed in a press conference here that the
Dhemaji police had prepared a false report which was sent by
the Deputy Commissioner to the state home department alleging
that he had links with different militant organisations.
"This has been done to silence me as I am critical of
the policies of the Congress Government``, said Pegu, who
represents Jonai constituency in Dhemaji district.
He claimed that a similar report had been made against
RTI activist and head of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti
(KMSS) Akhil Gogoi for his criticism of the Congress
Government`s some policies.
An official spokesman of the home department refused
to comment on the allegations.
