A group of nine people, including a child and three women, were travelling from Kamalabari Chariali to Kamalabari Ghat to board a ferry to Jorhat, when the speeding vehicle turned turtle and fell into a roadside ditch.
All the passengers, including the driver were injured and one of them died at the local Kamalabari Health Centre while three others whose conditions were stated to be "very critical" have been shifted to Jorhat Medical College Hospital.
The dead has been identified as K N Saha, a resident of Guwahati.

Jorhat: One person was killed and eight others seriously injured when the vehicle in which they were travelling skidded and fell into a ditch in the world's largest river island Majuli on Wednesday, official sources said.
