BPF to contest in non-BTC areas this time

The BPF, a partner of the ruling Congress, has decided to expand its presence by contesting 25 non-Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) assembly constituencies in northern Assam during the elections next year.

Tezpur: The Bodoland Peoples Front
(BPF), a partner of the ruling Congress, has decided to expand
its presence by contesting 25 non-Bodoland Territorial Council
(BTC) assembly constituencies in northern Assam during the
elections next year.

BPF Sonitpur district Convenor Lenin Basumatary said today that his party would not remain restricted to the
BTC areas but contest for 25 seats falling outside.

Besides putting up contestants for the 12 seats in the
BTC area, Basumatary said, the BPF would also venture into
other areas.

The non-BTC seats would also include Sonitpur
district`s four assembly seats of Borchala, Dhekiajuli, Sootea
and Gohpur.
