Gangtok: The Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling today urged the cross-section of the civil society in Sikkim to take collective responsibility for maintaining the momentum of development in the Himalayan State.

"It is the duty of all sections of the civil society to take up responsibility for the development of the state for the benefit of each and all," he said at a function after flagging off a fleet of six buses received under the central scheme- Jawahar Lal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.

The youths, in particular, should take active part in the development process and lap up economic opportunities being made available to them by the state government, Chamling said.

The Chief Minister also needled the bureaucracy and asked them to raise the bar of their capacity to efficiently discharge their duties for the betterment of the state and its people.

Chamling further emphasised on the need for peace and tranquility in the state to attain its goal on all fronts.
