Gangtok: Chief Minister Pawan Chamling
has suggested to the Centre to declare north east, known for
its flora and fauna, as an organic belt, official sources said
on Monday.
Chamling made the suggestion to the Union Minister for
DONER, Paban Singh Ghatowar, in New Delhi yesterday when he
also discussed the possibility of declaring as an eco-friendly
zone.
During the meeting, he also emphasised the urgent need
for an alternative highway from Gangtok to Siliguri.
Ghatowar assured the chief minister to put it on the
priority list of projects, the sources added.
