Mumbai: Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Monday met Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and both are understood to have discussed the Naxal situation in the state.
Chidambaram and Chavan deliberated on the steps being taken in Naxal-affected areas and also the general law and order situation in the state, sources said.
The meeting also comes in the backdrop of the murder of a key terror suspect in Pune`s Yeravada jail last week.
Home Minister R R Patil and Minister of State for Home Satej Patil were not present in the meeting.
The Chief Minister`s office merely said that Chavan and Chidambaram had a closed-door meeting at Sahaydri Guest House.
