Shillong: One of the two BSF personnel who had been detained in connection with a case of suspected child sacrifice, was arrested today in Meghalaya's West Garo Hills district.

"Constable Babu Khan was formally arrested today for his involvement in the murder case. He will be produced before the magistrate tomorrow and police custody will be sought for interrogation," DIG GHP Raju said.

Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal said Khan had been giving contradictory statements which were not in consonance with the records.

The police were questioning other BSF men, including Havildar Chandrawan who was also detained.

The body of seven-year-old boy, Krishna Singh, was recovered from near the BSF 121 battalion headquarters at Tura on Thursday. The boy, son of a BSF cook, was missing since Wednesday.

The body bore multiple injuries, including those caused by incense sticks, piercing wounds and others.

At least two teams of Meghalaya Police have been sent to Mancachar in Assam from where an occultist had visited the BSF campus a few days back. The occultist was picked up and released on PR bond at Mancachar police station yesterday.

"Telephone records showed Babu Khan had been in touch with the occultist who had visited the BSF campus at Tura during the pujas," Goyal said.
