Company official kidnapped from Assam found in Shillong

A senior official of a cement company, kidnapped from Jorabat near Guwahati, by unidentified men this afternoon, was found safe on the outskirts of Shillong later Thursday, police said.

Guwahati/Shillong: A senior official of a
cement company, kidnapped from Jorabat near Guwahati, by
unidentified men this afternoon, was found safe on the
outskirts of Shillong later Thursday, police said.

Narendra Kumar Nimodia, the in-charge of construction
works of Star Cement`s plant at Sonapur near Guwahati, was
abducted by four armed men from near a restaurant where he had
gone for lunch.
A Meghalaya police official said he managed to jump
off the vehicle near the Eastern Air Command headquarters and
inform the police.

Nimodia, who is the brother-in-law of the company`s
owner, was unhurt.

A source in the cement company said that Nimodia rang
up and briefly spoke informing he had been kidnapped by
unknown people.
It is not yet clear whether the abductors, who
appeared to be tribal Assamese, were cadres of any militant
group or criminals, police sources said.
