Gangtok: The Congress on Tuesday said they have postponed its party elections in the state till further announcement.

The incumbent Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee (SPCC) president Nar Bahadur Bhandari was all set to win for the third consecutive term as he was the lone candidate in the fray after the nomination process ended on September 13.
His rival, K N Upreti had backed out demanding that the new SPCC president should be nominated by the AICC. A statement from the party`s returning officer Zubair Khanm, as forwarded by SPCC functionary Avinash Yakha to the media, states that due to some unavoidable circumstances the election process for organisational election in Sikkim has
been postponed till further announcement.
Bhandari has claimed that he stands elected as the SPCC president unopposed since no nomination paper, other than that of his, was filed till the time for filing of nomination
papers.
