Couple gunned down by NDFB militants

Barpeta: A couple was gunned down in
their home by National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB)
militants in Barpeta district of the state, police said today.

A group of about nine militants entered the house of the
farmer couple at Batabari midnight last night and ordered them
to open the door of their room.

Police said the militants then opened fired after the
victims complied to their order, killing them on the spot.

The couple, who are survived by two children, have been
identified.

The motive behind their killing is not known, they said,
adding a manhunt has been launched to nab the killers.
