Agartala: CPI-M on Tuesday demanded central
intervention in Manipur to resolve the ongoing crisis arising
out of the state government`s decision not to allow the
NSCN-IM leader Thuingaleng Muivah to enter into the state.

"The Centre should immediately intervene in the situation
in Manipur and solve the problem in consultation with the
state government,” CPI-M central committee member Bijon Dhar
told reporters here.

"Peace talks between the centre and NSCN-IM must continue
and the ongoing peace process should not be stopped anyway,”
he said.

Ultimately it was the people in Manipur who were
suffering as the price of essential commodities has sky
rocketed and even tinned baby food and live saving drugs are
not available at their price.

Economic blockade was enforced by various Naga tribal
groups since May 6 to protest the Manipur government`s
decision not to allow Muivah to visit his village in Ukhrul
district on the plea that it would create unrest in the state.
