Shillong: Curfew was imposed on Monday in Meghalaya`s East Garo Hills district bordering Assam following an ethnic clash between two tribal groups.

"The curfew was clamped after minor ethnic clash between the Garos and Rabha groups," East Garo Hills District Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi said.

He said the fighting broke out after some Garo youths and two Meghalaya police jeeps were allegedly attacked by the people from Rabha community.
