Guwahati: Congress general secretary
Digvijay Singh on Wednesday had to face the ire of partymen who
failed to get tickets to contest the ensuing Assembly polls in
Assam.
Just as Singh, who is in-charge of Congress affairs in
the state, arrived at the party`s state headquarters, irate
ticket-seekers geared him by shouting slogans.
Objecting to the nomination of some candidates, angry
party supporters staged a dharna and tore election posters of
the party.
Efforts to pacify the supporters by Singh failed as
they continued to raise slogans.
"We will talk to them and hope they will understand.
The party has given ticket to strong candidates who have got
chances of winning," he said.
