Kohima: Dissension within the state unit of the BJP in Nagaland has come to the fore with hundreds of party workers from Phek district staging a protest rally demanding immediate removal of M Chuba from the post of Ad-hoc President of the state BJP.
The protest held yesterday at the state unit headquarter of the party in Dimapur alleged that the state BJP President has been displaying a "lackadaisical attitude" towards the Phek district unit of BJP and is acting in his own "vested interest".
In a memorandum submitted to the Organising Secretary of Nagaland BJP at the rally, the BJP Phek district unit questioned the induction and appointment of the Eduzu Thuluo as BJP's President in Phek District, superseding the legally and constitutionally elected candidate Kupota Khesoh on September 8, 2014.
The memorandum also raised questions as to why no disciplinary action has been taken against the state unit President for his alleged dictatorial activities.
The memorandum further held the state BJP President accountable for the party's failure to win the recently held by-election to Northern Angami II assembly seat and for the "lack of coordination, mistrust, progress, harmony and understanding" in the party.
Meanwhile, President of the Nagaland State unit of the BJP, M Chuba refuted the allegations and termed them as "false and misleading". He accused certain sections of the BJP Phek Division for trying to create an impasse in the BJP.
