Imphal: An Election Commission team would
arrive in Manipur on a two-day visit from August 5 to examine
the situation in the state for deciding the time for holding
the next assembly elections, official sources said on Monday.
The team which may include the Chief Election Commissioner
would meet state chief electoral officer (CEO) and other
officials during their stay here and discuss the preparations
for holding next elections which are due in February next.
The team would also meet leaders of political parties,
civil society leaders and cross sections of people to discuss
the convenient time for holding the elections, the sources
