Kokrajhar: Four members of a family,
including three children, were burnt to death and several others injured when a fire broke out at Fakiragram Bazar in lower Assam`s Kokrajhar district Tuesday.

The fire first started in a tea stall at around 2.30 AM
caused by an electric short-circuit and then quickly spread to
the shops, burning them down completely, Fire Brigade sources said.
The fire then engulfed Putul Mahato`s house, adjacent to
the market, causing two gas cylinders kept inside to explode
as Putul and her three children, who were fast asleep, were
charred to death.

Several other persons were injured when they tried to
save the victims.
The wood-and-tin house was reduced to cinders, the
sources said. The three children were identified as Nisha,
Neha and Mousam Mahato.

When fire tenders reached the place, nothing was left
standing, the sources said.
