Itanagar: Within a fortnight of a failed abduction bid on a Gammon India Limited official, another attempt has been made to kidnap two engineers of the same construction firm that was undertaking a key road project in East Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh.
The police Friday said five armed men had forced two engineers and a driver to ride a company car at a site 12 km off Seppa and started proceeding towards the district headquarters.
However, on crossing about 4-5 km, the vehicle developed a snag. Enraged, the kidnappers got down and threatened the engineers to stop work and leave the area, the sources said.
They also fired damaging the car before fleeing from the scene. The officials, however, were not injured.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, was certainly an abduction bid, the police said.
Earlier on October 22, an attempt was made to kidnap Gammon`s project in-charge, SK Nath.
The company is constructing the 81-km-long road from Seppa to Chayangtajo connecting Chayangtajo, Sawa, Khenewa, Bameng and Lada administrative circles in the district.
A case has been registered with Seppa police station.
Meanwhile, various organisations have condemned the abduction attempts.
