IED recovered from Guwahati-Puri Express train

New Delhi: The authorities on Friday averted a major tragedy when they recovered a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from the Guwahati bound Guwahati-Puri Express train.

As per reports, the explosive devices weighing five kilogram was recovered during a routine checking of passenger trains by the alert security officials at Pachratna Railway Station.
In view of the development, the railway authorities have stepped up security of all passenger trains and heightened vigil in and around all important railway stations in the north east region.
In a bid to avoid any untoward incident during country’s 65th Independence Day celebration on August 15, the authorities have decided to restrict the movement of all major trains to Assam during night between August 13-15.

As per the decision, all trains going to the North-eastern region will now be halted during the night time in Assam.
