Kidnapped IOC official freed in Imphal

Senior Indian Oil Corporation official KI Singh, who was kidnapped by militants on Friday last, has been freed by his captors at a place in Imphal West district of Manipur, official sources said Monday.

Singh, a senior divisional manager with the IOC, was
yesterday freed at Tingri area by the militants who had
abducted him and demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore from the oil
major.

The abduction had triggered an indefinite shutdown of
all the petrol refill stations in Manipur yesterday. Following
his release, the petrol pumps opened today, the sources said.

A militant outfit named Naga people`s Support group
had kidnapped Singh at gun point while he was returning home
from office, the sources said.
