Lapang seeks Ibobi’s intervention over “harassment” on Khasis

Meghalaya Chief Minister D D Lapang has called for personal intervention of Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh to redress alleged grievances of the Khasi inhabitants of Manipur.

Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister D D Lapang has called for personal intervention of Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh to redress alleged grievances of the Khasi inhabitants of Manipur.

In a letter to his Manipur counterpart, Lapang stated that the Khasis, who had settled in Kamranga Khasi Village under the administrative jurisdiction of Tousem Sub Division
in Tamenglong district since the 1940s, were being harassed by miscreants, official sources here said.

Lapang’s letter followed reports that eviction notices have been served on Khasi inhabitants of Manipur recently by the administration.
