Man kidnaps employer`s baby a day after joining

Itanagar: The baby daughter of a restaurant owner at Nirjuli near here was kidnapped allegedly by an `unnamed` man who was employed by her father just a day ago, the police said Wednesday.

The two-and-a-half-year-old girl was kidnapped yesterday by the 20-something man whom her father Basant Mohapatra had engaged on Monday afternoon, Capital Complex SP Hibu Tamang said.
Mohapatra had employed the accused without verifying his antecedents and even did not know his name, Tamang said.

He said a case has been registered with the Nirjuli police station and a search operation was launched for the girl who was kidnapped when Mohapatra, a resident of Assam, was busy with customers.

The reason behind the abduction was not yet known.

PTI
