Manipur celebrates New Year

Imphal: Manipuri New Year -- Sajibu
Cheiraoba -- was Tuesday celebrated in the state with people
praying to god for a prosperous year and making special dishes
at home.

Governor Gurbachan Jagat in a message said `while
entering into the new year, we have to dedicate ourselves
to gathering renewed strength and confidence in order to
strengthen bonds of friendship, brotherhood and peaceful
coexistence amongst all sections of people irrespective of
caste, creed, language and religion.`

In his message Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh said `on
this auspicious occasion, let us rededicate ourselves to the
gigantic task of nation-building and resolve to work together
for the unity and prosperity of the state.`
