Imphal: Seven major insurgent organisations
of Manipur have decided to form a `united front,` a joint statement of the outfits said Friday.
As a first step, two senior leaders from each of the seven outfits formed a coordination committee and president of the Revolutionary People`s Front (RPF) Irengbam Chaoren has been elected convener of the committee, the statement said.
Leaders of the insurgent outfits held a two-day meeting from
July 8 and discussed the present situation in the state, the
statement said.
Besides the RPF, the other constituents are United National
Liberation Front (UNLF), Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP),
People`s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), PREPAK
(progressive), Kanglei Yawol Kann Lup (KYKL) and United
People`s Party of Kangleipak (UPPK).
Official sources said they were aware of the developments

the `united front` decided to intensify any unlawful
activities.
Senior CPI leader N Mangi Singh said if the `united front`
was formed, the government should initiate steps to hold peace
talks with front leaders for a long-lasting peace in the
region.
