New Delhi: Notifications for the Assembly Elections in Manipur will be issued Wednesday, setting in motion the beginning of the process for polls in five states including Uttar Pradesh between January 28 and March 3.
The elections in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases while in the other four states of Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur, it will be held in a single phase. Counting of votes in all the states will be held on March 4.
Manipur Governor will issue the notification tomorrow for January 28 election to 40-member assembly with which the filing of nominations will begin.
The last date of filing nominations will be January 12, followed by scrutiny the next day. The last date for with drawl of candidature is January 16. The term of the present assembly ends on March 15.
On January 5, the Governors of Punjab and Uttarakhand will issue notifications for election to their state
The last date of filing nominations in both the states will be January 12, scrutiny the next day and the last date of with drawl January 16. Date of poll will be January 30.
The term of the present assemblies in Punjab (117 seats) and Uttarakhand (70) ends on March 14 and March 12 respectively.
The notification of polls to the 403 member Uttar Pradesh assembly will be issued on January 10 for the first phase of poll to be held on February 4.
