Meghalaya pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary

Shillong: Meghalaya chief secretary P B O Warjri and other senior officials today laid wreaths at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on his 67th death anniversary.

Warjri and senior government officials laid wreaths at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Main Secretariat.

Two minutes silence was also observed in the state to pay homage to those who sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle, during which government offices, public and vehicular movement came to a standstill to the sound of the siren.

Thereafter another siren is sounded to mark the end of silence.
