Militant, 6 linkmen nabbed in Assam

A militant of the Adivasi Cobra Force (ACF) was nabbed on Wednesday along with six other linkmen of the outfit from near a bank in Assam`s Kokrajhar district, police said.

Kokrajhar (Assam): A militant of the
Adivasi Cobra Force (ACF) was nabbed on Wednesday along with six
other linkmen of the outfit from near a bank in Assam`s
Kokrajhar district, police said.
The group, led by the militant Lakhiram Soren, had
came to the vicinity of Assam Gramin Bikash Bank to collect
money from ethnic violence affected families who had recently
received rehabilitation from the government, they said.

The police nabbed the seven persons and recovered cash
amounting to Rs 1.60 lakh from Soren.

Kokrajhar district administration had recently given
Rs 50,000 each to 15 families who had been affected by ethnic
violence of 1996 and 1998.
The Adivasi Cobra Force is currently under ceasefire
and was created primarily to protect adivasis from violence
and rehabilitation of ethnic violence victims.
