Imphal: A militant identified as M D Musa of banned Kangleipak Communist Party-Noyon (KCP-N) was arrested by a combined team of commandos and Assam Rifles personnel from an interior village in Thoubal district of Manipur, official sources said on Thursday.

Security personnel launched a search operation at Sangai Yumpham area late last night following reports of movement of some ultras.

While Musa was nabbed, some others escaped under cover of darkness, the sources said.

Several documents, one 9mm pistol, one Chinese-made handgrenade, one improvised explosive device (IED) containing plastic explosive and splinters, two detonators and one mobile handset were seized from him, the sources said.

The militant was handed over to Thoubal police station for further investigation.

Over 150 militants of different organisations have been arrested by security personnel from the state during this year, the sources said.
