Imphal: Kangleipak Communist Party-Mobile Task Force, a militant organisation, today owned responsibility for the killing of a Manipur government officer, Sarat Singh, at his house at Oinam in Bishenpur district on June 20.
In a statement, the KCP-MTF said Sarat Singh, a district horticulture officer of horticulture department, was killed for `nexus` with rival Kangleipak Communist Party.
It, however, denied that the killing had anything to do with monetary demand from the official.
Singh was gunned down by two unidentified persons in his wife`s presence at his house.
In a rare gesture, the Manipur cabinet had decided about three days ago to appoint one of the sons of Sarat Singh as a sub-inspector in the state police department and to pay Rs.
one lakh as ex-gratia to his family.
