Militants attack contractor and retired official`s houses

Imphal: Unidentified militants attacked the
private houses of a Manipur government contractor and a retired official by exploding grenades.

No casualty was, however, reported.

Official sources said the militants exploded two grenades
at the house of one Meitream Kesho (50), a government
contractor, at Lamsang in Imphal West district late last night.
In another incident, the militants exploded a powerful
grenade at the house of a retired executive engineer of the
Public Works Department, Salam Biren (65), at around 10.30 PM
at Keisampat Thiyam Leikai area in Imphal west district,
sources said.

Both the contractor and retired official were present at
the time of the attacks, the sources said adding the monetary
demand from both appeared to be the cause of the incidents.
Militant outfits have been attacking the houses of
contractors, officials, businessmen and others almost everyday
for the past many months demanding money.
