A militant outfit has forced the closure of a premier school in Manipur`s Imphal West district for non-payment of its monetary demand.

Imphal: A militant outfit has forced the closure of a premier school in Manipur`s Imphal West district on Thursday for non-payment of its monetary demand.

Spokesman of Don Bosco School at Langjing said the school has been closed down indefinitely as it cannot afford to pay Rs 3 lakh demanded by Kangleipak Communist Party - Military Council.
The `demand money` notice, served by the outfit on December 31, said the school should not function till the payment was made, he said.

Students and parents have appealed to the militant outfit to withdrwaw its demand notice, the spokesman said.
The school is one of the premier ones in the north east state and is known for its high educational standards and good students.
