Aizawl: Opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) Wednesday demanded the resignation of Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla and some other ministers on the issue of lapse of the state plan fund of Rs 98.59 crore for the 2009-10 fiscal.
In a press statement issued here, MNF accused Lal Thanhawla, who also holds Finance and Planning and Programme Implementation portfolio, of responsible for the lapse.

They should take moral responsibility and resign, MNF said in the release.

All the ministers who failed to prevent lapse of fund to the tune of Rs one crore allocated to their departments should also resign, the party demanded. Meanwhile, some of the heads of departments attributed the lapses to Finance and Planning departments saying that the two departments delayed giving clearances for utilisation of funds in different departments.
