Mohilary welcomes Daimary`s offer of unconditional talks

Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Hagrama Mohilary Tuesday hailed arrested NDFB chief Ranjan Daimary`s offer to hold unconditional talks with the government and said he was ready, if necessary, to facilitate it.

government and said he was ready, if necessary, to facilitate
it.

Mohilary told reporters here Daimary`s proposal for
unconditional talks with the government was a welcome step and
"I am ready to facilitate it, if both the government and NDFB
desires it."

He also appealed to the NDFB leadership to hand over
the matter of talks to some senior functionary of the outfit
to take the matter forward with the government at the
appropriate level.

Daimary`s sister and chief of Bodo Women Justice Forum
Anjali Daimary, who was allowed to meet him when he was
produced before the CJM Court here on May 16, had said he was
ready to hold talks with the government without any condition
but not with handcuffs on.

"My brother told me he wanted the government to
create a positive atmosphere so that the members of
NDFB could sit for talks in the future," she said.

Daimary, the prime accused of October 30, 2008 serial
blasts in Assam which claimed 92 lives, is currently in nine
days` police custody.

Daimary was arrested in Bangladesh and handed over to
Indian authorities on May 1.
