More bad news for Congress: 6 Tripura MLAs leave party to join TMC
The Congress had 9 MLAs in Tripura.
Agartala: Close on the heels of the humiliating defeat in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Kerala, the Congress suffered yet another setback on Tuesday when six out of its nine MLAs in Tripura resigned from the party to join the Trinamool Congress.
The rebel MLAs wrote a letter to Tripura Assembly Speaker Ramendra K Nath to apprise him of their decision.
The six MLAs Sudip Roy Barman, Asish Kumar Saha, Dilip Sarkar, Pranajit Singha Roy, Diba Chandra Hrangkhwal and Biswa Bandhu Sen mention in the letter that their defection to the TMC confirms with the tenth Schedule of the Constitution of India.
“We shall request your good self to kindly do the needful so that we may join our desired political party and as start functioning as members of All India Trinamool Congress in the House of Tripura Legislative Assembly at the earliest,” the MLAs wrote to the Speaker.
