More than 30,000 names have been added in the final electoral rolls of Tripura, the Chief Electoral Officer said here Tuesday.

Agartala: More than 30,000 names have been added in the final electoral rolls of Tripura, the Chief Electoral Officer said here Tuesday.

Unveiling the final electoral rolls, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ashutosh Jindal today said in course of the revision process a total of 54,792 names of voters have been added while 24,202 voters names have been deleted from the electoral rolls. The net addition of voters in the electoral rolls stood 30,590 which has been revised and published with January 1, 2014 as the qualifying date.

The number of electors stood at 23,79,541 with cent per cent EPIC coverage. Of the total electors, male voters are 12,12,578, while 11,66,963 comprise women voters.

The increase in the number of voters is 1.30 per cent.
The CEO said there might be some errors ? mistakes in surname or addresses in the final electoral rolls.

"We have appealed to political parties as well individual voters to approach the designated people for necessary rectification. We want to end the process by February itself," he said.

Jindal said the Election Commission would issue PVC EPIC to new voters free of cost, while `old voters` if they want to have PVC EPIC (Colour) will have to pay Rs 30 per head.

To mark the National Voters? day, the state election department would hand over PVC EPIC to new voters on January 25, he said, adding that the number of polling stations had been increased to 3,095.

Separate CDs comprising final electoral rolls were handed over to the representatives of ruling CPM and opposition Congress following instruction from the election commission.
