Shillong: The Tangkhul Elders Forum of
Shillong today decried the ban on the visit of NSCN-IM general
secretary T Muivah to his ancestral home in Manipur which, the
forum said, was infringement on one’s birthright.
”The decision of the Ibobi Singh government in
Manipur is not only anti-human, but a thoughtless ... move
to disrupt peaceful solution of the Naga political problem,”
the forum said in a statement after an emergency meeting.
It said the decision to ban Muivah was a “deliberate
intent to whip up communal strife".
Demanding action against Ibobi’s decision, the forum
sought President’s Rule in Manipur and safe passage to Muivah
to visit his ancestral village.
Condemning the killing of three students on May 6 during
the police firing at Mao Gate, the forum said, "Whipping up
negative emotions and using brute force without justifiable
rights is unconstitutional.”
