Shillong: The opposition NCP in Meghalaya
on Friday questioned the government for reportedly planting the
PSO of an NCP MLA undercover in a militant group, which led to
the killing of four militants last Tuesday.
Citing a media report which said that the constable
Hubert S Marak was placed as an undercover agent in the Garo
National Liberation Army (GNLA) camp under an operation to
eliminate four militants, including its deputy `c-in-c`,
Opposition leader Conrad Sangma said this had compromised the
security of the concerned NCP MLA.
"The fact that the government had not informed the MLA
before the operation was an attempt to falsely point fingers
at the MLA`s involvement in it. The NCP demands an
administrative probe into the matter," Sangma said.
He also urged the government to ensure the safety of
the policeman who carried out the undercover operation.
