NCP urges Centre on peace measures

Itanagar: Expressing its resentment on
the `unprecedented` law and order situation in Arunachal
Pradesh, the state unit of NCP on Monday urged the Centre to
initiate some well-thought out measures to bring back peace
and order.

The party also demanded a thorough investigation into
the recent series of violent events in the state capital,
besides appealing all sections of the people to maintain peace
and communal harmony.

"Against this unimaginable situation the state
government evidently surrendered to the perpetration of this
impossible development and had for all practical purposes
washed its hands off its constitutional obligation of
maintaining normal, law and order and peace," NCP president
Ngurang Pinch said in a statement.

He said the union government should urgently take some
measures to avert recurrence of such unruly and ugly situation
and bring back peace.

"The ruling party both in New Delhi and the state had
never before shown this kind of gross callousness in terms of
the welfare of the people of Arunachal Pradesh.”

It is very strange and unfortunate that the Congress
has been ridiculing and putting to stake a simple, innocent
population for the wrong politicking of a few of its
leaders," the NCP president alleged.

The party also demanded a thorough investigation into
the recent events in the state besides giving justice to the
victims.
