Guwahati: The North East Frontier Railway would man 202 unmanned level crossings under its jurisdiction during the year 2010-11 to prevent accidents. NF Railway spokesperson said in a release here that they have plans to man about 110 unmanned level crossings by November this year.
``Accidents are a matter of great concern for the railways. Unmanned level crossings are very prone to accidents. It not only causes loss of properties to railways and hampers train operation, it also lead to loss of precious human life``, he said.
NF Railway has so far 71 unmanned level crossings have been manned, out of which six are in Bihar area, 27 are in West Bengal area and the balance 38 are in Northeast area
(mainly in Assam) during the last 10 months period.
