NLFT-NB peace accord implemented in Tripura

All the conditions of the peace accord with the outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura, Nayan Basi group (NLFT-NB) signed in 2004 have been fulfilled, official sources said.

accord with the outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura,
Nayan Basi group (NLFT-NB) signed in 2004 have been fulfilled,
official sources said on Monday.

"The status of the tri-partite accord signed by the
state and central governments with the NLFT-NB was reviewed
recently in a meeting which concluded that that it was fully
implemented," DIG, Police Control, Nepal Das told reporters
here.

The meeting was attended by Tribal Welfare Minister,
Aghore Debbarma, DGP K Salim Ali and surrendered rebel
leaders, he said.

Das said that the state government had recently
provided additional facilities for the 153 surrendered NLFT
(NB) militants who came over ground in December 2004.

The additional facilities include allotment of one
hectare land to each surrendered cadres of the NLFT (NB).

All cases except crime against women committed by the
surrendered NLFT (NB) militants were withdrawn as part of
accord.

Altogether 96 cases against them were deleted from
police records. Centre had released Rs 50 crore for executing
various schemes aiming to uplift the socio-economic condition
of the surrendered insurgents, he said.

Over 8,075 militants of various outfits surrendered
to the Tripura Government from 1993, he said.
