Imphal: A non-Manipuri small time trader was
shot dead by two gunmen in Imphal West district of Manipur
Saturday, official sources said.
The victim, who sold bakery items from door to door, was
fired upon from point blank range at Sagolband area here this
afternoon, killing him on the spot, the sources said.
The trader was yet to be identified.
The body has been taken to Regional Institute of Medical
Science and Hospital here for post mortem.
About 28 non-Manipuri labourers and small time traders
have so far been shot dead by gunmen in different areas this
year in Manipur.
Identities of the Killers were not known but intelligence
sources said some armed groups were against the increasing
number of labourers and small time traders from outside as
they were afraid that the migrants would outnumber the tribal
population of the state.
