Muivah has asserted that his group has been for Naga
re-conciliation and wanted meeting of top leaders of all
underground groups to sort out differences.
On his arrival at Dimapur airport after staying nearly
eight months in New Delhi, Muivah told newsmen that their
chairman Isak Chishi Swu were here in Nagaland for the highest
level meeting among top leaders of all Naga political groups
as part of the on-going Naga peace and re-conciliation
campaign initiated by Forum for Naga Re-conciliation (FNR).
Muivah's assertion favouring for a summit level
meeting proposed by FNR assumed significance in the backdrop
of the decision of NSCN(K) and NNC/FGN not to participate in
the proposed highest level meet for re-conciliation till
NSCN(I-M) stops its offensive in Eastern Nagaland.
Two groups of NSCN and NNC/FGN had signed Covenant of
Re-conciliation (CoR) in June 2009 in Thailand at the
initiative of Forum for Naga Re-conciliation (FNR) and as part
of the on-going peace and re-conciliation process, FNR was
trying hard to arrange a highest level meeting among top
leaders of three signatories for which Chishi has arrived in
Nagaland.
Muivah asserted that NSCN(I-M) was at liberty to send
its men on duty to anywhere in Naga inhabited areas and their
cadre had been moving all over Nagaland and Naga areas of
Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Myanmar.
"How is it that they have to question us that our
cadre started moving around?" he asked, saying "yet NSCN would
never attack anyone unless they were attacked".
NSCN(K) and NNC/FGN, in a joint statement on Wednesday
declared that unless "military offensive and territorial
expansion mission" in Eastern Nagaland (Naga inhabited areas
of Myanmar) are called off by NSCN(I-M), they would not join
the proposed re-conciliation summit.
On the progress of Naga peace talks with Centre,
Muivah said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said an honourable
solution (to the protracted Naga political conflict) must be
brought about at the earliest possible on the basis of "unique
history of the Nagas".
"India respected Naga history and that the two
entities were for negotiations," he said, adding "give and
take policy is the nature of negotiations anywhere".
Muivah held several rounds of formal and informal
talks with Centre's representatives and leaders during his
stay in New Delhi.
