Aizawl: An octogenarian man was brutally killed allegedly by his son at Khawzawl in Champhai district of Mizoram, police said Friday.
Lianhenga (83), sick and confined to bed for long, was attacked by his only son Thuankipmanga (35) after threatening his sisters and their children last night, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Zothlamuana said.
As his sisters ran out of the house and called for help, Thuankipmanga killed his father with a machete cutting his throat and also inflicting several wounds on the latter`s body.
He was overpowered by the neighbours and handed over to lice.
Zothlamuana said that the accused seemed to have some mental problems.
"He was extremely incoherent and could not be properly interrogated," Zothlamuana said, adding that some villagers had said that the accused was an alcoholic.
