Shillong: Seven women and three men were arrested from a hotel during a raid for their alleged involvement in a prostitution racket, the police said on Saturday.

Acting on a tip off, that a few people were involved in flesh trade in some of the hotels here, a special police team launched a raid at a hotel late last night and arrested the 10 persons.

Majority of the women hailed from neighbouring Assam.

The hotel owner, identified as Raju Baruah, and his manager fled through a trap door in one of the rooms where these women were kept.

Police were on the lookout for a few more persons in this connection, the sources said.
