The Employees Union of PTI, Guwahati on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi urging him to impress upon the Centre.

Guwahati: The Employees Union of PTI, Guwahati on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi urging him to impress upon the Centre for immediate implementation of Majithia Wage Board recommendations.
A delegation of the Guwahati bureau called on the chief minister and apprised him that the union government had notified the Wage Boards for Journalists and Non Journalists Employees of the Newspapers and News Agencies on November 11
last.

The owners of the newspapers under the banner of Indian Newspapers Society (INS) have refused to implement the government notification.

"This refusal to implement the government`s notification has forced us to resort to agitate for our right to just livelihood," the delegation said.

The chief minister gave a patient hearing and assured that he would take up the matter with the concerned ministries at the Centre to ensure that the media personnel get their rightful dues.
