Guwahati: Assam Social Welfare Minister
Akon Bora received a jolt when the Gauhati High Court today
ordered repoll in two booths of 52 Dispur assembly
constituency from where he had won as a Congress candidate in
the 2006 polls.

Justice I A Ansari, delivering the judgement on a
petition filed by former AGP Minister Atul Bora, directed the
election authorities to hold polls at the earliest for the two
polling stations--No 196 and 164.

The AGP candidate who had contested against the
social welfare minister, had lost the polls by a mere 813
votes and had filed a petition with the High Court alleging
election malpractices by the concerned authorities in the two
polling stations.

The Social Welfare Minister had polled 52,461 votes
while the AGP candidate polled 51,648 votes.
